Terms of use
Version of 7 October 2026. Provided by [operator legal name] trading as ACRO.
The short version
This summary is here to help. It doesn't replace the terms below.
- ACRO is calculation software for Australian resident individuals who hold crypto as an investment. It is not tax advice, and we are not registered tax agents.
- You stay responsible for your tax return. ACRO's results depend on your answers, your records and data from third parties, so check them and get a registered tax agent to review anything you're unsure about.
- In the download, scanning and review are free. A licence (A$40) unlocks the figures for one financial year, for one taxpayer. There's no subscription.
- Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law always apply. On top of them, we offer a 30-day refund if the figures don't reconcile with your records.
- Most of your data never reaches us. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what does.
1. About these terms
- These terms are an agreement between you and [operator legal name] trading as ACRO (we, us, our). Our contact details are in clause 16.
- They apply when you use the ACRO website, download or use the ACRO app (the desktop app or the online version), use our online services, or buy a licence or lookup pack. In these terms, ACRO means all of those things. By using ACRO or buying from us, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use ACRO.
- Our Privacy Policy and Refunds page also form part of these terms.
- To buy a licence you must be 18 or older, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
2. What ACRO is, and what it isn't
- ACRO is general calculation software. It reads public blockchain records for the wallet addresses you enter, applies calculation rules based on our understanding of published Australian Taxation Office (ATO) guidance for Australian resident individuals who hold crypto assets as an investment, and produces figures, reports and exports for you to review.
- ACRO is calculation software. Neither ACRO nor its operator is a registered tax agent or BAS agent, and ACRO does not give tax advice. If you want tax advice you can rely on to meet your tax obligations, get it from a registered tax agent. We don't prepare or lodge your tax return, deal with the ATO for you, or tell you how a particular transaction should be treated for tax. Our support helps you use the software; it can't advise you on your own tax position.
- ACRO is not financial product advice. We don't recommend buying, selling or holding any crypto asset. ACRO never holds, moves or has access to your crypto assets. We will never ask for your seed phrase, private keys or exchange passwords, and anyone who does is not us.
- ACRO is designed for Australian resident individuals who hold crypto as an investment, for on-chain activity on the networks it supports (currently Solana, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base and Polygon). It is not designed for companies, trusts, partnerships or self-managed super funds; people carrying on a business of trading crypto or holding it as trading stock; foreign residents or people whose residency changed during the year; or activity ACRO can't see, such as trades inside exchange accounts or on other networks. If any of these apply to you, ACRO's results may be incomplete or wrong for your situation, and you should get professional advice.
- Tax law and ATO guidance change, and some treatments ACRO uses follow guidance that is still in draft (for example, the ATO's draft Taxation Determination TD 2026/D2 on wrapped crypto assets, which is not yet final). We update ACRO's rules when we reasonably can, but we can't promise ACRO reflects every change, or the ATO's view of your particular circumstances.
- ACRO is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the ATO or any other government agency. Names of exchanges, wallets, blockchains and other software are trademarks of their owners. We use them only to describe compatibility or to compare features.
3. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for your own tax affairs and for anything you lodge. Before you rely on a figure, review it, check it against your records, and get advice from a registered tax agent if you are unsure.
- ACRO's results depend on the wallet addresses you enter; your answers to review questions and your classification choices; the costs, dates and values you enter or import; your settings, such as the cost-basis method; and data from third parties such as blockchain providers and price sources. If any of these are incomplete or wrong, the results will be too. The health checks help find gaps, but they can't find everything.
- Keep your source records, such as exchange statements and receipts. The ATO generally requires you to keep records of crypto transactions for five years. ACRO's exports can support your records, but they don't replace them.
- Your wallets, transaction history, answers and reports are stored on your computer (or, in the online version, in your browser), not by us. We can't recover them if your device fails or you clear your browser data, so use Settings → Export backup. A backup file contains your licence keys and any API keys you have entered, so keep it private.
- Keep your licence key private. It works like a password: anyone who has it can unlock the licensed year and use its online allowance. Tell us if you think it has been misused.
- Only use ACRO lawfully, and only to work out tax figures for yourself or for someone who has asked you to.
4. Free use, licences and prices
- Free use. The desktop app is free to install. Without a licence you can add wallets, scan, answer the review questions, run the health checks and see how many disposals and income events you have. Dollar amounts and exports stay locked. The online version needs a licence before it can scan, because it uses our blockchain provider account.
- A licence: (a) unlocks the figures and exports for the one financial year you chose at checkout; (b) covers one taxpayer, meaning you, or one other person whose figures you're preparing with their permission, so tax agents and bookkeepers need one licence per client; (c) works in both the desktop app and the online version; (d) includes 10,000 online-version lookups; and (e) has no expiry in the desktop app, because the key is checked on your own computer.
- How online usage is counted. The online version counts usage in lookups: each Solana transaction downloaded, each transaction receipt and each transfer record returned on Ethereum-style networks. One on-chain transaction can use more than one lookup (for example, its transfer records and its receipt), and scanning the same transaction for several of your wallets counts each time. A lookup that fails or returns nothing isn't counted. Scanning in the desktop app with your own provider account doesn't use your allowance.
- Lookup packs add 50,000 online-version lookups to an existing licence for A$10. They don't expire while we offer the online version.
- Prices and payment. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout. Prices are in Australian dollars. Stripe processes payments; we never see or store your full card number. Promotion codes may apply. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. We may change prices for future purchases; that never affects a purchase you've already made.
- Delivery. Your licence key is shown on screen after payment and emailed to the address you used at checkout, usually within minutes. If it doesn't arrive, use Recover a key or contact us.
- Buying the same year twice. If you buy a licence for a financial year your email address already has, we automatically refund the second payment in full and send you your existing key again.
5. Your licence to use the software
- We, or our licensors, own ACRO, including its software, website, design and content. These terms don't transfer ownership of any of it to you.
- We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use ACRO for your own lawful purposes, in line with these terms. A paid licence also unlocks the features described in clause 4.
- You must not: (a) sell, publish or share licence keys, other than with the taxpayer the licence covers; (b) bypass, disable or interfere with licence checks, usage allowances, rate limits or security measures; (c) use our relay or price service other than through the ACRO app, or scrape, overload or resell them; (d) copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the software, except as far as the law (including the Copyright Act 1968) allows you to; or (e) use ACRO, or data obtained through it, to build or run a competing data service.
- ACRO includes open-source components, which are licensed under their own terms. For those components, their licence terms apply.
- If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
6. The online version and our relay
- The online version reads the blockchain through our server (the relay), using our account with a blockchain data provider. Your wallet addresses and blockchain requests pass through the relay to that provider. The Privacy Policy explains what is and isn't kept.
- To keep the service fair and affordable we apply usage limits, including per-licence allowances, rate limits and daily capacity limits. If you reach a limit you may need to wait, buy a lookup pack, or use the desktop app with your own provider account.
- We aim to keep the website and online services available, but they depend on our hosting and third-party providers and may be interrupted for maintenance or outages. The desktop app doesn't need our servers to show the figures for a year you've already unlocked.
- If we decide to stop offering the online version, we'll give at least 30 days' notice on the website and, where we can, by email to licence holders, and we'll refund unused lookup packs pro rata. Your licence keeps working in the desktop app.
7. Third-party services and data
- ACRO relies on other companies' services: blockchain data providers (Alchemy, public endpoints, or endpoints you choose), price and token data (CoinGecko, Jupiter, and frankfurter.app for exchange rates), payments (Stripe), email (Resend), hosting (Vercel and Upstash) and app downloads (GitHub). When you use your own Alchemy account or another provider of your choice, that provider's terms and privacy policy apply between you and them.
- Third-party data can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. For example, a provider may miss transactions, a token may have no price, and daily reference prices can differ from the price you actually dealt at. We choose and use providers with reasonable care, but we don't control them and can't guarantee their data.
- Price data is powered by CoinGecko. The CoinGecko API and its data are the property of CoinGecko (Gecko Labs Pte. Ltd.). CoinGecko is not responsible or liable for ACRO, or for any use of its data through ACRO, including any financial or tax decisions or outcomes. We, not CoinGecko, are responsible for offering CoinGecko data as part of ACRO and for these statements about its accuracy and limitations. Crypto asset prices are volatile. You must not use ACRO to access, extract or redistribute CoinGecko data except as ACRO shows it to you.
8. What ACRO checks, and its limits
- ACRO's health checks compare computed native balances with the blockchain, check that disposals have acquisition records, and flag unanswered questions and missing or estimated values. Unresolved items are left out of the figures and shown as a draft until you resolve them.
- ACRO doesn't read exchange accounts or unsupported networks, and it doesn't decode every DeFi protocol. NFTs need values you document. It may not retrieve Solana stake-account activity or Ethereum-network transactions that only paid gas (such as token approvals). Prices are daily reference values, not your actual trade prices. Changing settings, such as the cost-basis method, recalculates your whole history, including years you may already have lodged.
9. Refunds and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
- Our reconciliation refund. In addition to those rights, we give the following warranty:
If, within 30 days of buying a licence, ACRO's figures for the licensed financial year don't reconcile with your own records and the health checks can't get you there, tell us. We'll work with you to fix the problem, and if we can't fix it, or you would rather not wait, we'll refund the licence in full.
- Who gives this warranty
- [operator legal name] trading as ACRO, [business address]. Phone [business phone]. Email [support email].
- How long it lasts
- 30 days from the date of purchase. The problem must appear, and you must contact us, within that period.
- How to claim
- Email [support email] (or write to the address above) with your licence ID, which starts with
lic_ and is shown in Settings, and a short description of what doesn't reconcile. A CSV export or screenshot helps but isn't required. - Costs
- Claiming costs you nothing. We don't charge for investigating a claim, and a refund goes back to your original payment method through Stripe.
- Your other rights
- The benefits given to you by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under a law in relation to the goods or services to which the warranty relates.
- Lookup packs. On request, we'll refund the unused part of a lookup pack pro rata.
- Change of mind. Apart from the rights and promises above, we don't offer refunds just because you change your mind.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe and usually take 5 to 10 business days to appear. When a licence is refunded, it ends (clause 11.3).
10. Our liability
- Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, guarantee, warranty or other term or condition implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited (your non-excludable rights).
- Subject to your non-excludable rights, we are not liable for loss to the extent it is caused by: (a) information, answers, records or settings you provide or choose; (b) third-party services or data outside our reasonable control, although we remain responsible for any failure by us to take reasonable care in choosing or using them; (c) using ACRO in circumstances it is not designed for, as described in clause 2.4; or (d) events beyond our reasonable control, such as hosting, internet or blockchain network outages.
- Subject to your non-excludable rights, and except for loss caused by our fraud or wilful misconduct, our total liability to you for all claims connected with ACRO is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Suspension and ending
- You can stop using ACRO at any time. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser data deletes the data stored there, so export a backup first if you want to keep it.
- We may refuse to resend keys, suspend online-version access for a licence key, or block access to our services if you seriously or repeatedly breach clause 5.3, if we reasonably suspect fraud, or if the law requires it. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
- If a payment is refunded or reversed, the licence or pack bought with it ends. You must stop using the features it unlocked, and we may block that key from the online version.
- Clauses that by their nature continue after these terms end (including clauses 5, 10 and 15) continue to apply.
12. Changes to ACRO and to these terms
- We may update ACRO, including its tax rules and supported networks. We won't make a change that materially reduces what a licence gives you for the year you bought it, unless the law requires it or it is needed to fix a security problem. If that happens, you can ask for a refund for the affected licence.
- We may update these terms. The version date is at the top of this page. Updated terms apply to purchases made after they are published, and to your continued use of free features. For a licence you've already bought, changes that materially disadvantage you won't apply unless you agree to them. For material changes we'll give notice on the website, and by email to licence holders where we reasonably can.
13. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information reaches us, why, who we share it with and how to contact us about it. Most of what you put into ACRO stays on your own device and never reaches us.
14. Complaints and disputes
- If something goes wrong, please contact us first at [support email]. We'll acknowledge your message within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
- Nothing in these terms stops you from contacting your State or Territory consumer protection agency or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, or from exercising your rights under the law.
15. General
- These terms are governed by the law of [State or Territory], Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts and the courts that can hear appeals from them.
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable, it is read down to the extent needed to make it enforceable, or removed if that isn't possible. The rest of the terms continue to apply.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to anyone who takes over the ACRO business, as long as your rights aren't reduced.
- If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We send notices to the email address you used at checkout. You can send notices to us by email at [support email] or by post to the address in clause 16.
